In the 1970s and 1980s, in the two towns (streets) of Nili and Weizhuang in Changyuan City, family-style crane parts factories began to sprout.
In the 1990s, the crane industry experienced a qualitative leap in scale. More than 30 complete machine manufacturers, including Henan Giant Crane Co., Ltd. (now Henan Giant Crane Group Co., Ltd.) and Xinxiang Weihua Crane Factory (now Henan Weihua Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd.), and more than 500 parts manufacturing enterprises (stores), laid the foundation for the formation of industrial clusters.
"After forty years of cultivation and development, the lifting industry has become one of the pillar industries in Changyuan City, with an annual output value of nearly 40 billion yuan. " Lu Yansheng, director of the Changyuan City Science, Industry and Information Technology Bureau, told Top News reporters that the city has 114 crane manufacturing enterprises above designated size and 1,042 supporting manufacturing enterprises, including 1 enterprise with an annual output value exceeding 10 billion yuan, 1 enterprise exceeding 5 billion yuan, and 27 enterprises exceeding 100 million yuan.
These companies have an annual output of 300,000 complete cranes and 1.7 million units (sets) of parts and components. "This means that an average of 34 complete cranes per hour are rolled off the production line in Changyuan and sold to more than 170 countries and regions across the country and even the world. ”Lu Yansheng said that in the crane industry, Changyuan City has successfully cultivated 11 national specialized, special and new key small giants and small giant enterprises, 71 national technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises, and 28 provincial specialized, special and new small and medium-sized enterprises.
