As a sales engineer at the Cangzhou Service Department of Weihua Group, Zhao Guozeng reviewed his entire process from discovering a child falling into the water to diving to rescue him twice, and turning around and leaving afterwards.
At around 6 o'clock in the evening on July 24, the afterglow of the setting sun had not yet dissipated. A white Jetta car was speeding down a rural road in Nanpi County, Cangzhou, Hebei Province. Zhao Guozeng was rushing to deliver goods to the place agreed by the customer. An electric tricycle not far ahead seemed to be tripped by a stone. After staggering a few meters, it suddenly deviated from the direction and plunged into a deep river. Zhao Guozeng didn't have time to think, he slammed on the brakes and rushed towards the river. At that time, two children were struggling and calling for help in the river. The tricycle was upside down on the river. He did not know if there were other people under the vehicle who fell into the water. The country road was sparsely populated. Zhao Guozeng was the first person to discover the accident. The situation was urgent, and he immediately jumped into the river. At the same time, another kind person who was passing by also jumped into the river to help.
This river is four to five meters deep during the flood season. Zhao Guozeng and the others tried their best to pick up the two girls floating in the water and push them to the shore. When they got to the shore, they checked with the two children to see if there were other people who had fallen into the water under the car. However, the two children were completely frightened by the accident that had just happened. They sat on the ground for a long time and said:Without saying anything, Zhao Guozeng shouted anxiously: "Is there anyone else down there? Think about it quickly!"
In shock, one of the children pointed to the tricycle tremblingly and said: "There are three companions under the water." Zhao Guozeng's heart tightened, and he jumped into the water without hesitation to rescue. The two of them worked together to push away the floating car on the river, first picked up the other two children, and after a while of groping, they found the last child who had fallen into the water. After the five children were rescued, there happened to be a doctor among the enthusiastic people who came to help. After the other party carefully checked the condition of the children who had fallen into the water and determined that they were OK, Zhao Guozeng gradually relaxed and quietly left while the sky was dark.
The five children who fell into the water came from four families. Afterwards, the family members were extremely excited and eager to thank the children's lifesaver in person. The next day, they retrieved the driving recorders of the vehicles along the way through the local police station. After asking around, they found the "unsung hero" at the time of the incident - Zhao Guozeng from the sales department of Weihua Group in Cangzhou, Hebei Province. They and the police from the police station went to the door in person to express their gratitude and presented a banner: "Thank you for saving five children regardless of personal safety. We will never forget your kindness in our lives."
At the commendation meeting, Han Hong'an, chairman of Weihua Group, awarded Zhao Guozeng the honorary medal of "Weihua Group's courageous role model" and a bonus of 100,000 yuan.
