Top news: Go to war! "Xinxiang Elements" escorted the Shenzhou 17 manned spacecraft succes

2023-10-26

At 11:14 on October 26, Beijing time, the Long March 2F Yao-Seven carrier rocket carrying the Shenzhou 17 manned spacecraft was ignited and launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. About 10 minutes later, the Shenzhou 17 manned spacecraft successfully separated from the rocket and entered the predetermined orbit. The astronaut crew was in good condition and the launch was a complete success.

Did you know? In this launch mission, there are two other "Xinxiang elements" to help the Shenzhou 17 manned spacecraft lift off.

Top News reporters learned from the 22nd Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (hereinafter referred to as the 22nd Institute) in Xinxiang that the direction finder and other equipment independently developed by the institute played an important role in the success of the mission.

According to reports, during this mission, 22 scientific and technological forces escorted the whole process, with leaders leading the expedition, 15 research personnel, and 38 sets of test equipment. Scientific and technological personnel and equipment are distributed in more than 10 locations including the Dongfeng Launch Site and a certain area of the Pacific Ocean, with a geographical span of more than 7,000 kilometers.

During the launch and ascent stage, the spacecraft takes off rapidly and faces many risks. In the event of an emergency return, the direction finder equipment independently developed by the 22 Institute will detect the return capsule beacon immediately, thereby guiding the search and rescue forces to arrive accurately and rescue the astronauts as quickly as possible. "We hope to be prepared before using it, but we will never be prepared before it is used!" The head of the 22 manned space search, rescue and recovery technical team said sonorously.

In order to ensure nothing goes wrong, Institute 22 actively implemented the call of "sending the strongest force to the front line and sending the backbone of party members to the front line", established a temporary party branch and a party member research team, and organized party members to show their identities, be pioneers, set up flags, and set examples, so that the party flag can fly high on the front lines of manned space engineering support.

This mission is the 30th mission since the establishment of the manned space project and the 12th manned mission. 22 institutes have participated in all the missions of my country’s manned spaceflight project. Over the past 30 years, Institute 22 has always adhered to its original mission of "providing scientific and technological support for astronauts' smooth expeditions and safe and healthy return", and has delivered more than 100 sets of special equipment for the engineering landing site system, and built a landing and return capsule search and positioning equipment system with my country's own characteristics, leaving a mark in the history of manned space engineering construction.

Space exploration will never end, and aerospace power has a long way to go. "The hard-working people of the 22nd Institute continue to explore and seek breakthroughs, and continue to contribute radio wisdom and strength to the Chinese people's own 'space home' to travel in the sky." said the relevant person in charge of the 22nd Institute.

[Weihua Crane - the "stabilizer" of the launch vehicle]

In this launch mission, multiple cranes provided by the Weihua Group in Changyuan City for the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center were responsible for the key links of rocket transfer and hoisting, and completed the handling, flipping, inspection, and testing of the rocket in the factory with high precision. These cranes are equipped with the electrical anti-sway automatic positioning control system independently developed by Weihua Group, which greatly improves the stability and accuracy during rocket lifting.

This system can reduce the amplitude of sway by 95%, with a control accuracy of 2 millimeters, providing "Made in Henan" equipment support for the Shenzhou 15 spacecraft. This world-first technology has filled the technical gap in this field and has successfully served the four major domestic satellite launch bases, helping the Shenzhou series spacecraft, Tiangong series space laboratories, Chang'e series lunar probes, Long March series launch vehicles, Mozi, Shijian 13 satellites, etc. to successfully fly into space.

Weihua Group is located in Changyuan City, the "Famous City of Hoisting Machinery in China". It is one of the first batch of national technological innovation demonstration enterprises in the country. It has 33 national and provincial R&D platforms, including nationally recognized enterprise technology centers and national and local joint engineering research centers, and has the largest scientific research team in the industry with more than 1,000 people.

Weihua Group has obtained more than 1,000 authorized patents, ranking first in the domestic industry; it has hosted or participated in the formulation (revision) of 127 international, national, industry standards, and local standards. Weihua Group continues to win the title of "Manufacturing Individual Champion Demonstration Enterprise" and is the largest industrial crane manufacturer in the country and the second largest industrial crane manufacturer in the world.
